HISTORY

The Florida state lottery came into existence on January 12th 1988 when the Florida Lottery voters voted for the start of lotteries in the state of Florida. The Cash 3 and Florida lotto was the first on line lottery obtainable by the Florida state lotteries. It was started on April 29th 1988.It was a six numbered game with a jack-pot of more than one million. The draw was held every Saturday. If the jack-pot was not won by anyone the prize is carried forward to the next draw. On September 3rd Sheila Ryan of Florida won the biggest jack pot in the history of lotteries, a whopping $55 million.

FANTASY FIVE

It is a typical five number, on-line lottery. Draws are held every Tuesdays and Fridays. It was started on April 28th 1989.The jack-pot was in the order of tens of thousands. Jackpot prizes have been given due to rollover of prizes. On September 14th 1990 the biggest jackpot in lottery history, the Florida lottery was announced. The jack pot of $106.5 million was divided between six players. Florida lotto earned US$30 million for the Florida state lotteries. Florida lotteries started a four number on line lottery on July 4th 1991.The Florida lotto with a Jackpot of $10 million was started on December 10th .Florida lotteries introduced the $2 scratch off lottery, The Bingo on September 27th 1993.
Florida lotteries were the pioneers in second draws where ticked holders were asked to mail tickets for a second draw which included a Ford Mustang as a prize. The Fantasy five was expanded on January 24th 1994 and draws are now held every weeknight. The Florida lottery started the Flamingo Fortune .the players were asked to send the losing Scratch off tickets to be selected for second run up prizes. The Florida lotteries have also started the Win for life lotteries where the winners were assured $1000 every week for the rest of their lives.
On January 12th 1998 the Florida lotteries celebrated its 10 years of existence. Florida lotteries sales have grossed $21 billion and it has contributed $8 billion for Florida’s Education.
