3. Society Lotteries – This is the most common form of charity lottery. Any member of the public can purchase this form of lottery. The lottery should not cost more than 1dollar.These lotteries are registered with the state local authorities. The law stipulates that 84 % of the funds must be given back to the public .only a small amount can be used for administrative expenses.
Before buying a charity lottery or a raffle it is advisable to know certain facts to confirm that the money would be used for the purpose it specifies. All lotteries with a collection above $1000 have to register and a registrations number is given which has to be quoted in the lottery ticket.
